Security officers of the states with a common border with Zakarpattia region plan to arrive to this region on July 28 to examine the situation with cigarettes smuggling, head of Zakarpattia regional state administration Hennadiy Moskal said.

"Representatives of Hungarian, Romanian, Slovak and Polish security services [which border with Ukraine along Zakarpattia region], who are carefully monitor over the developments in our region, are expected to come to Uzhgorod on July 28. And we'll ask them to make an analysis of the seized cigarettes in their laboratories," says a report on Moskal's website on Saturday.

According to him, an examination of recently-withdrawn smuggled cigarettes allows to determine their origin. The story tells on three sources: cigarettes of Lviv tobacco factory without excise stamps signed as 'duty free', Belarus-made cigarettes with various stamps, which have been illegally delivered via Belarus border in Chernihiv region, as well as handicraft counterfeit cigarettes with forged excise stamps (produced in the tobacco workshops of Dnipropetrovsk, Rivne, Sumy and Donetsk regions).

"It's no wonder in a plan of supply of large wholesale batches, but the volumes are huge. A cost of seized cigarettes just at one warehouse totals almost one million euros," he said.
