Detained Russian soldier Aleksandrov was part of group spying on Ukrainian army near Schastia - SBU

Alexander Aleksandrov, one of the Russian special forces soldiers detained in Schastia, Luhansk region, on May 16, is a medical intelligence officer who was ordered to spy on the Ukrainian Armored Forces.

This is according to a post on Facebook written by Advisor to the Chief of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) Markiyan Lubkivsky.

Aleksandrov is a Russian citizen, born on 1987 and from Kirov region.

He said that he is a private of Russian army and a medical intelligence officer, serving at military base 21208 near the town of Tolyatti. The commander of his brigade is Sergey Schepel.

"They entered Ukraine on March 26, 2015 as part of the second battalion consisting of 220 people. The battalion's commander is Major Konstantin Nikolaevich Napolskikh, a Russian citizen," Aleksandrov said.

According to him, the second battalion entered Ukraine as a part of three reconnaissance groups. He also named the members of the groups stating their surnames, nicknames and positions.

""We were tasked to spy on Ukrainian Armed Forces," Aleksandrov said.

Their location inside Ukraine was Luhansk.

He added that he had been detained while conducting a reconnaissance mission near the bridge in front of the town of Schastia.
