European Commission notes Ukraine's progress in visa liberalization action plan

The European Commission has adopted the 5th progress report on the implementation by Ukraine of its visa liberalization action plan.

Despite the exceptional circumstances that Ukraine currently faces, the progress achieved in the implementation of the second phase benchmarks of the plan has been noteworthy, the press service of the European Commission reported.

"The significant effort made by the Ukrainian authorities led to a coherent legislative framework and commitment to institutional reforms," the press service said.

Sustained efforts by all stakeholders involved will be needed to implement the recommendations included in the present report, the press service reported.

The key priority is the sustainable implementation of the legal and institutional framework, in particular in the areas of asylum, anti-corruption, organized crime, trafficking in human beings and anti-discrimination, the Commission said.
