Poroshenko insists on faster ratification of EU-Ukraine agreement by member states
- Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko and European Commissioner for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Johannes Hahn are to discuss ratification of an agreement between Kyiv and the European Union (EU).
"The European commissioner and I will discuss the ratification of the EU-Ukraine association agreement by the EU member states and we will coordinate matters to expedite this process," Poroshenko told reporters before his talks with Hahn.
"Particular focus will be on speeding up the signing of an open skies treaty and providing Ukraine with a macro-financial aid in this difficult time," the president said.
Ukraine welcomes the EU decision to allocate 1.8 billion euro, he said.
"Besides, the commissioner and I will discuss the humanitarian component of our cooperation to resolve the situation in Donbas and ways to increase our cooperation. I want to thank you because the EU has already allocated 95 million euro to date to resolve this extremely sensitive problem," Poroshenko said.
