Yatseniuk increases assessment of expenses on restoration of Donbas from UAH 8 bln to $8 bln
Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk has said that billions of U.S. dollars will be required to restore infrastructure of Donbas.
"While two months ago, when we liberated Sloviansk, we needed UAH 8 billion, according to our estimates, now [the sum in] hryvnias could be changed to U.S. dollars, and these are billions of U.S. dollars of destroyed infrastructure," he said, opening a cabinet meeting in Kyiv on Wednesday.
The premier said that the EU will send an ad hoc commission to Ukraine to conduct a stocktaking and assess losses, and in November 2014 the large donor conference will be held to collect funds to restore Donbas.
Yatseniuk said that the government plans to introduce targeted assistance to residents of the eastern part of Ukraine who will return to their houses when the armed conflict ends.
