Wizz Air Ukraine suspends expansion of fleet until market conditions stabilize in Ukraine

Wizz Air Ukraine has suspended the expansion of its fleet until market conditions in Ukraine stabilize, Corporate Communications Manager at Wizz Air Daniel de Carvalho has told Interfax-Ukraine.

"Wizz Air Ukraine confirms that due to the current market conditions in Ukraine the airline has suspended the expansion of its fleet until demand for services at prices affordable to Ukrainian consumers and visitors stabilizes. Our representatives are connecting passengers who booked tickets for flights, the schedule of which changed due to the suspension of the fleet expansion. They will receive refunds," Carvalho said.

He also said that the airline would monitor the possibility of the further expansion of its fleet. In addition, Wizz Air Ukraine still has plans to open a third Ukrainian base in Lviv, but at present the airline is revising the frequency of lights to optimize the schedule and satisfy demand.

All plans on the opening of new flights in 2014 announced earlier are going ahead.

Today passengers cannot book tickets for Kyiv-Dubai and Donetsk-Memmingen flights.

As reported, earlier Wizz Air Ukraine said that the airline plans to expand its fleet with another Airbus-320 by May 2014.

Today, its fleet consists of four Airbus-320 planes.
