Kyiv concerned by foreign diplomats' visits to buildings seized by protesters - justice minister

Ukrainian Justice Minister Olena Lukash is concerned that foreign diplomats have visited the buildings seized by protesters in Kyiv.

"We express our deep concern about the visits of members of foreign diplomatic missions to the administrative buildings seized" by the opposition, Lukash said at a meeting with foreign ambassadors in Kyiv on Wednesday.

"The fighters preparing Molotov cocktails" are staying precisely in these buildings, she said.

The minister has called on foreign officials to publicly denounce extremism and the use of violence by the protesters in Kyiv.

"Judging from the EU record of reaction to attempts to stage unrest in your countries, one can say confidently that not a single European country, not to mention the U.S., would have displayed more tolerance than Ukraine has done," she said.

The seizure of government buildings in any European country would prompt the authorities to act in a tough way, she said.

The Ukrainian police have displayed "restraint in relation to the extremists' actions," Lukash said.
