The Foreign Ministry of Estonia will provide Ukraine with EUR 50,000 under a UNICEF program to promote the rights of children.

The goal of the project intended for 2014-2016 is to help return children who have committed crimes to society and to their families, the Estonian Foreign Ministry reported.

To achieve these goals, a variety of social assistance centers will be developed at the local level in Ukraine, Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Paet said.

According to him, a total of eleven special schools for juvenile delinquents operated in Ukraine not so long ago. However, in recent years, such schools have been closed, whereas these children's families are often reluctant to take the children back because they cannot cope with their education. Therefore, the Estonian Foreign Ministry through UNICEF provides support for the development of a network of social centers that will help unite parents and children, Paet said.

Estonia earlier already provided assistance to Ukraine through UNICEF.
