Russian official reaffirms existence of long list of complaints about Ukrainian products

Russia has complaints about Ukraine's consumer protection record, but it is wrong to describe this situation as a trade war, Gennady Onishchenko, head of the Russian consumer rights watchdog Rospotrebnadzor and Russia's chief epidemiologist, said.
"We are doing professional work. We have a concrete, long list of complaints concerning laws on protection of consumer rights," Onishchenko told Interfax ahead of talks with Ukrainian officials in Moscow on Friday.
"I am speaking about the need for products to meet the requirements of laws on consumer rights protection and quality. This is exactly what I mean. But if one chooses to call it a trade war, one may continue to call it so," he said.
Onishchenko plans to meet with Ukraine's delegation in Moscow on Friday to discuss the prospects for resuming deliveries of products manufactured by the Ukrainian confectionary corporation Roshen to the Russian market. Rospotrebnadzor recently banned Roshen imports to Russia.
The Ukrainian authorities, for their part, claim that Russia imposed a ban on almost all Ukrainian commodities that are having problems crossing the Russian border.
