Four Ukrainians killed, nine injured in major road accident in Belarus, says Foreign Ministry

Four Ukrainians were among the eight people who died in a Sunday road accident in Vitebsk region of Belarus, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry's information policy department reported.

Three Ukrainians died on the site, the fourth died in hospital.

In addition, nine Ukrainians have been taken to Orsha city hospital No. 1 with injuries of various severities, the Foreign Ministry said.

There was a headlong collision on Sunday of an Opel Omega with Russian license plates and a Mercedes Sprinter minibus with Ukrainian license plates on the 169th kilometer of M-8 highway near the village of Babinichi, Orsha district, the Vitebsk region police PR section said.

On the whole, eight people died and eleven more were injured in a Sunday road accident in Vitebsk region of Belarus.

The driver and all four passengers of the Opel Omega – citizens of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan died at the scene.

The killed are being identified. The survivors from the minibus are residents of Odesa region, the police said.
