Twenty-two Ukrainian children from 11-13 years old who got burns on their feet during the international folk festival in Nesebar (Bulgaria), were insured at Kyiv-based Omega insurance company under a tourist insurance agreement, reads a press release from the insurer.

Participants in children’s dance group from Kryvyi Rih received burns on their feet when performing barefoot on a stage that in places was up to 60 degrees. After the performance they complained about the burns and were sent to the regional hospital in Burgas. The seven girls who stayed longest on the stage were hospitalized at the surgical department of MBAL Bourgas hospital. Fifteen children, after the necessary procedures, were allowed to return to their hotel under doctors' supervision.

The children's injures happened because although the young dancers ought to have danced in light gym shoes, their teacher ordered them to go barefoot. The teacher had heart attack following the incident.

Omega confirmed that all of its duties under the insurance policies would be implemented in time and in full. The company's employees are monitoring the situation and keeping in constant touch with the AU International Assistance Service and the doctors of the Bulgarian hospital.

Omega was set up in 1994. The company is a member of the League of Insurance Organizations of Ukraine, the Motor (Transport) Insurance Bureau of Ukraine, the National Club of Insurance Claims Payers, and the Construction Insurance Pool.
