Ukraine is ready to continue to provide a platform for a meeting between the leaders of Moldova and Transdniestria to settle the Transdniestrian conflict, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has said.

"We're ready to confirm the Ukrainian platform for organizing a meeting between the leaders of Moldova and Transdniestria as soon as certain decisions are worked out," Acting Director of the Foreign Ministry's Information Policy Department Yevhen Perebyinis said at a briefing on Tuesday.

He noted that on February 19 this year Lviv hosted talks in the 5+2 format on the settlement of the Transdniestrian conflict. These were the first talks held under the chairmanship of Ukraine.

Perebyinis said that during the round of talks in Lviv, the sides reaffirmed their desire to continue negotiations in a constructive manner and agreed to step up work on inconsistent decisions at the level of political representatives and experts, in particular, on the provisions of a protocol decision to improve the conditions and freedom of movement of the population of these regions, as well as cooperation in the humanitarian sphere.

"That is, no process has stopped," the Foreign Ministry spokesman said, speaking of the results of the negotiations in Lviv.

As reported, the talks in the 5+2 format were held in Lviv under the chairmanship of Ukraine. The Ukrainian side earlier initiated a meeting between the leaders of Moldova and Transdniestria during this round of negotiations, but the Transdniestrian leader did not give his consent.
