Ukraine has time until November 2013 to get ready to sign Association Agreement, says Fule

EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Stefan Fule has said that Ukraine has to fulfill all conditions for the signing of the Association Agreement with the European Union by November 2013.

"Speaking about the terms, they are absolutely clear – November 2013. I have said that there are no such deadlines as December 2013 or January 2014," Fule said at a press conference in Kyiv on Thursday, following a meeting with the Ukrainian government.

He also mentioned that the conclusion of the EU Council enumerates the tasks Ukraine must carry out in order to sign the Association Agreement. Fule said the EU hopes to see Ukraine take resolute steps for the settlement of the issues and described the current year as "a year of opportunities."

"We have a window of opportunity to move forward, but time is limited," Fule said.

As reported, earlier the EU Council stated that Ukraine has to carry out several tasks connected with doing away with selective justice, the improvement of the election legislation, and the implementation of reforms on the agenda of the EU-Ukraine relations in order to sign the Association Agreement during the Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius in November 2013.

On February 25, Brussels will host the EU-Ukraine Summit.
