Association Agreement won't affect trade between Ukraine and Russia - Fule

The Association Agreement signed between Ukraine and the EU cannot affect Russian-Ukrainian trade, European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Stefan Fule considers.

"The agreement does not contain any provisions that could affect trade between Russia and Ukraine. To the contrary, we sincerely believe - and this is not just rhetoric - that this bilateral agreement between the EU and Ukraine can do good to Russia," Fule said in an interview with the RT television channel, without specifying his statement.

He also noted that in the medium- and long-term Ukraine's GDP is expected to grow by 6% due to the Association Agreement.

The agreement, according to the European Commissioner, "is a plan of reforms aimed at modernizing Ukraine."

"Money is grants and loans, and they are designed for seven years rather than three years. And for us investment in the stability of our partner countries is appropriate," said Fule.
