Lytvyn criticizing delay of vote calculation at parliamentary elections in Ukraine

Verkhovna Rada Chairman Volodymyr Lytvyn has stated that protraction of the vote counting process after the parliamentary elections in Ukraine is unacceptable.

"I can talk about unacceptable things, about certain scandalous facts, and some resistance during the vote counting process. It is obvious that vote counting cannot last so long in such a compact country," Lytvyn said in an interview with the Rada Channel on Thursday.

According to him, the current election campaign does not differ much from the previous one.

"I should say that it was more open and transparent. Although it is clear that the elections should be analyzed more attentively from the standpoint of the legislation, practical implementation of the legislation and actions and practical actions of all participants of the election process," he said.

Lytvyn also noted that the current election campaign "was really tough, but remained within the limits of international standards."

Lytvyn ran for parliament in a majority constituency in Zhytomyr region. According to the Central Election Commission, he got 66.53% of the vote and won a seat in parliament.

The People's Party, led by Lytvyn, did not run in the elections.
