Ukrainian Red Cross launches new social project in Khmelnytsky
The Ukrainian Red Cross is launching a new social project in Khmelnytsky.
"Kramnytsia [store] is a social project that combines environmental awareness with charity. [...] Its concept is that residents of the city can bring clothes and things that are no longer used, giving them a new life and at the same time supporting those who need it," the organization said on Facebook.
The format of the Kramnytsia project is borrowed from the Danish Red Cross, which operates more than 250 clothing reuse stores.
"This project is being implemented in Ukraine for the first time. We are glad that we have the opportunity to support the activities of the Ukrainian Red Cross, as we realize how responsible the organization's role of supporting the social sphere of the state is," Head of the Danish Red Cross in Ukraine Jakob Harbo said.
According to Lina Pavlenko, the project manager of the National Committee of the Ukrainian Red Cross, a place is being created "where every person will feel their importance and the importance of their contribution."
Special attention is paid to the stories of things. At the same time, the project participants develop the direction of "upcycling", creating unique design solutions from already used items. In addition, Kramnytsia offers a space for workshops, where participants can learn how to create new things and make ecological products for the home. All the jewelry presented in the store is made by the project team members.
Funds raised from the sale of items will be used to support people in need of help from the Ukrainian Red Cross in Khmelnytsky region.
