Germany updates list of weapons intended for Ukraine
The German Federal Government has made adjustments to the list of weapons and military equipment that are being sent to Ukraine in accordance with the next deliveries, as reported in a review published on the government website on October 17.
The list indicates that Ukraine has been sent eight Leopard 1A5 tanks (jointly with Denmark), 20 Marder infantry fighting vehicles with spare parts, ammunition for Leopard 2, Leopard 1 tanks and Marder fighting vehicles. In addition, four Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicles (MRAP) have been transferred.
To strengthen Ukraine's air defense, one IRIS-T SLM air defense system, one IRIS-T SLS air defense system, IRIS-T SLM and Sea Sparrow missiles were sent.
Equipment was also provided to replenish the arsenal of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' artillery: six Panzerhaubitze 2000 howitzers with spare parts, as well as 24,000 rounds of 155 mm ammunition. The list also includes 30 VECTOR reconnaissance drones with spare parts.
In addition, to improve the military engineering capabilities of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the following were sent: one BEAVER bridge-laying vehicle, two WISENT mine-clearing tanks, 100 H-PEMBS portable mine-clearing systems, 90 mine detectors, and one mine plough.
Germany also provided two mobile antenna mast systems and 57 laser fire rangers.
The list includes: 3,000 RGW 90 portable anti-tank units, 25,000 of 40 mm rounds, 75,000 tourniquets, 460 MK 556 assault rifles, 90 HLR 338 high-precision rifles with 240,000 rounds of ammunition, 30 CR 308 rifles, and 3,000 SFP9 pistols.
It is noted that the funds for the initiative to build up security capabilities for military assistance to Ukraine in 2024 alone amount to about EUR 7.1 billion. They also finance Germany's contributions to the European Union's European Peace Facility (EPF).
