Zelenskyy: Human life and dignity must be protected, no exceptions for any countries
The lives and human dignity of all people must be protected around the world, with no exceptions for any countries, as justice has no borders, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said on Wednesday.
"As of today, we have at least 137,000 reasons to continue this work [prosecution for war crimes committed by Russia in Ukraine), to bring it to the end. 137,000 – that is how many war crimes have been committed by Russia, and this is only what is known," he said at the international conference United for Justice on the issue of bringing Russia to justice for shelling Ukraine's civilian infrastructure.
The head of state emphasized that the number of sentences should be no less than the number of war crimes committed by the occupiers.
"Justice has no borders. It should be equally valued everywhere. Human life and dignity must be protected, there can be no exceptions in any country, particularly this applies to countries that can still be visited by a terrorist of the modern world [...] the author of the brutal genocidal war that is now being waged," he said.
