Head of state special status body suspected of illicit enrichment for UAH 56 mln – SAPO
With the consent of the prosecutor of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO), detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) reported suspicion to the current head of a state body with a special status for illicit enrichment of UAH 56.2 million and declaring false information.
"The pretrial investigation established that in 2020-2023, the said person, while holding the position of head of the regional state administration, acquired 21 real estate properties and one luxury car by registering the property rights to his wife's relatives," the Telegram channel said on Wednesday.
It is reported that the property acquired by the official includes: seven apartments in the cities of Kyiv and Uzhgorod with a total area of 688.5 square meters; a house of more than 220 square meters and two land plots near Kyiv; two garage boxes; six parking spaces; three non-residential premises with a total area of more than 190 square meters; and a BMW X3 car.
According to the prosecutor's office, the total value of the assets amounted to UAH 61.7 million. At the same time, the legal income of the official and his family members did not allow such purchases to be made.
"Later, in order to conceal the fact of illegal enrichment, the official did not indicate information about the acquired property in the declarations of the person authorized to perform state functions for 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023," the SAPO notes.
The person's actions are qualified under Article 368-5 and Part 2 of Article 366-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
It is noted that the reason for the investigation by the SAPO and NABU was the publication of a journalistic investigation by Radio Liberty.
According to the SAPO, as well as data from the Anticorruption Action Centre, we are talking about former head of Donetsk Regional Military Administration, current head of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) Pavlo Kyrylenko.
