Italy's financial guard seizes Russian oligarch's EUR 41 mln-worth assets at Ukraine's request
Italy's Financial Guard (Guardia di Finanza) has seized assets worth EUR 41 million belonging to Russian oligarch Alexey Fedorychev, including his villa Torre del Gallo in Tuscany valued at EUR 38 million.
According to the publication tgcom24, Fedorychev's assets were seized at Ukraine's request as part of an investigation into crimes he committed in Ukraine, including corruption related to agricultural product supplies worth more than $60 million.
The investigation confirmed that the seized assets were acquired with funds obtained through illegal activities since 2014, particularly involving the transportation of coal mined in Donetsk region after its occupation, using Fedorychev's own maritime vessels.
Fedorychev was previously a co-owner of port infrastructure facilities, including in Ukraine, as well as the football teams Dynamo Moscow and Rostov. He currently sponsors the football club Munich Baske.
Fedorychev has appointed lawyers Michele Luzzetti and Michele D'Avirro to defend him.
