Interior Minister: versions of motive for Farion's murder remain the same
Versions of the motive for the murder of the MP of Ukraine of the 6th convocation from the All-Ukrainian Association Svoboda, ex-lecturer of the Lviv Polytechnic University Iryna Farion remain the same after the arrest of the suspect: the Russian trace, public activity and personal hostility, said Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko.
"We are considering the versions that were voiced: this is a possible Russian trace, and public activity, and personal hostility. All these versions remain. Of course, they can be supplemented with some other fourth version, but the investigation will already show that," the Interior Minister said on the air of the National Telethon on Thursday.
Earlier, President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, announced the detention by law enforcement officers of an 18-year-old man in Dnipro, who is reasonably suspected of Farion's murder.
The Interior Minister said that law enforcement officers have sufficient evidence that the 18-year-old boy detained in Dnipro on Thursday was the direct perpetrator of the murder. According to Klymenko, the defendant, a resident of Dnipro, rented at least three apartments in Lviv and was preparing to commit the crime.
The detainee is currently kept in police custody. "It is important to know all the details. So far, the investigation is inclined to believe that the shooter is only a performer," the minister drew attention.
