A total of 30 officials from different regions of Ukraine are suspected of causing losses to the state in the amount of over UAH 138 million, the Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) reported.

"The list of suspects includes three heads of quartering and utility departments in Kharkiv, Mykolaiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions, seven heads of quartering utility departments in the cities of Kropyvnytsky, Chernihiv, Lviv, the Prykarpattia, Zhytomyr, Volyn and Luhansk regions, as well as representatives of commercial structures," the PGO said on the Telegram channel on Friday.

The officials are charged with the embezzlement and appropriation of funds during the procurement of overestimated firewood, electricity, natural gas, furniture for the needs of the army and while carrying out the construction works at the military infrastructure facilities, as well as abuse of power, neglect of military service, creation and management of criminal organizations and participation in their activities.

One of the suspects, who is the head of a regional quartering and utility department, is also charged with the illegal acquisition of assets worth UAH 11.7 million in the form of commercial property, land plots, and other assets and things registered for a trustee.

As part of the investigation, law enforcers conducted more than 70 searches in the premises of the quartering and utility departments and enterprises all over the territory of Ukraine.

The issue of choosing preventive measures is currently being considered. The investigation continues.
