The National Olympic Committee (NOC) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) donated UAH 1 million to restore the Okhmatdyt children's hospital, which was damaged by a Russian missile attack on July 8.

"On the day of the shelling, at a meeting of the Executive Committee of Ukraine's National Olympic Committee, we unanimously decided to help the main specialized hospital of our country, where more than 20,000 children receive professional care every year," NOC President Vadym Gutzeit wrote on Facebook.

According to him, the NOC's initiative was supported by the International Olympic Committee. "By a common decision of Ukraine's National Olympic Committee and the IOC, UAH 1 million was allocated for the restoration of Okhmatdyt. We know that this will help quickly rebuild the hospital, fix a system of medical care for children and support the spirit of millions of Ukrainians," he said.

As reported, as a result of a Russian missile attack on the Okhmatdyt children's hospital on July 8, a total of 300 people were injured, two doctors were killed, and one small patient died in intensive care. The Russian missile strike damaged four medical buildings and one administrative building at Okhmatdyt. The toxicology building with the department of chronic and acute intoxications, where dialysis was carried out, was completely destroyed. Almost all the windows in the old surgical building were broken, two surgical and two somatic departments, an intensive care unit and a surgical unit were damaged. In the new building of Okhmatdyt, 12 departments were damaged, including eight surgical departments, five oncological departments, two intensive care units, a surgical unit, and a radiology and radiation therapy department.
