Ukreximbank connects return of service of accepting worn foreign exchange cash for collection with resumption of air traffic

The state-owned Ukreximbank is considering the possibility of returning to the service of accepting worn foreign exchange cash for instant and long-term collection, subject to the resumption of air traffic, the bank's press service has reported.

"The resumption of the bank's ability to export worn-out banknotes for collection abroad to correspondent banks will depend primarily on the resumption of air traffic," the bank responded to an inquiry from Interfax-Ukraine.

The financial institution, which has suspended the acceptance of cash for collection since July 25, said that this decision was caused by a lack of demand, high cost, and difficulties in logistics.

At the same time, the bank added that if the collection service is resumed, Ukreximbank plans to explore the possibility of expanding its provision to the entire network of the bank or part of it.

As of July 14, seven out of 65 banks operating on the market provided the service of accepting worn-out foreign currency for collection, among them Raiffeisen with a fee of 10% of the amount, FUIB with 12%, Ukreximbank with 20%, MTB Bank with 50%, Accordbank, First Investment Bank and Kredobank (at least UAH 350) with 15% of the amount, the Ministry of Finance reported with reference to the NBU.
