Ukraine, with support of Poland and Romania, can keep growth of export-import cargo turnover at 20% per month - Infrastructure Minister

Under the conditions of Russian blockade of seaports, Ukraine is making constant efforts to increase export-import cargo turnover through the western land border and ports on the Danube and is ready, with the support primarily of Poland and Romania, to maintain the pace of such an increase of 20% per month and even more, Minister of Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov said.

"We can maintain this pace. But it depends on how our Polish and Romanian colleagues will maintain this pace," he told Interfax-Ukraine on the sidelines of the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Lugano, Switzerland on Monday.

According to him, Poland is more supportive of such efforts by Ukraine, Romania is less, but the work continues.

As an example, he cited the recent expansion of the crossing at the Ukrainian-Polish border Krakovets-Korczowa, where the number of lanes for trucks was increased from 4 to 10 and additional pavilions for customs and passport control were created.

At the same time, the minister found it difficult to name what monthly volume of export-import cargo turnover has been achieved so far.

Kubrakov noted that the expansion of export-import logistics capacity is one of the important components of the Ukraine Recovery Plan.

As reported, Ukraine exported 1.41 million tonnes of grain crops in June 2022 compared to 1.2 million tonnes in May. At the same time, grain exports through the ports before the war amounted to 4-5 million tonnes.
