Naftogaz attracts Yorktown Solutions to lobby for Ukrainian gas interests in U.S.
National joint-stock company Naftogaz Ukrainy has attracted Yorktown Solutions to lobby for Ukrainian gas interests in the United States, the press service of Naftogaz has reported.
"The goal of the agreement is to properly inform interested parties about the risks of the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline for the development of a unified European gas market and the progress of the gas market reform in Ukraine," the press service said.
The services will include, among other things, organization of meetings in the U.S. Congress and committees of the U.S. Congress, as well as with representatives of executive authorities in the U.S. president's administration and leading think tanks.
The cost of Yorktown Solutions' services is $37,000.
"The purchase of Yorktown Solutions services is related to the need to respond to the intensification of Gazprom's lobbying campaign to promote the construction of the Nord Stream 2. According to the U.S. media, in the third quarter of this year about $1 million was spent on the campaign in the United States," Naftogaz said.
The company added that they are stepping up actions in the United States in response to the appeal of 16 people's deputies of Ukraine, who demand to strengthen work aimed at neutralizing threats to Ukraine's energy security abroad.
