Odesa port-side plant to be halted again

The management of state-controlled PJSC Odesa Port-Side Chemical Plant has decided to stop ammonia and carbamide production facilities, as prices for these products are falling on the world markets, while the price of gas is growing, Mykola Schurikov, the first deputy head of the plant, has said.

"In the current market situation, the tolling scheme is unprofitable for the company. And until a compromise on special terms of gas supplies is found with the Cabinet, there won't be alternative to the tolling contract," he wrote on his Facebook page.

As reported, after two unsuccessful attempts to privatize Odesa Port-Side Chemical Plant in late December 2016, the plant announced the decision to suspend production due to high prices for natural gas and accumulated debts for its supplies. The enterprise announced a search for companies interested in renting the integrated property complex of the plant for a long period.
