Ukrposhta, subscribed periodicals agree on gradual introduction of new tariffs

Subscribed periodicals and public joint-stock company Ukrposhta have decided to increase the tariffs for periodicals delivery in two stages.

"Ukrposhta would introduce new tariffs in stages: from July 1, the tariffs will grow by the half of the figure they wanted to introduce. Only from January 1, 2018 the tariffs will grow to the full figure planned for the increase," the national union of journalists of Ukraine said in a press release on Tuesday.

The agreement was reached after a two hour meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Viacheslav Kyrylenko. Acting Chairman of the national union of journalists Serhiy Tomilenko, Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan, Ukrposhta Director General Ihor Smeliansky, Ukrposhta CFO Oleksandr Cherniavsky, heads of the national periodicals Uriadovy Kurier, Holos Ukrainy and Fakty took part in the meeting.

"The newspaper representatives convinced that the introduction of new tariffs without agreeing them with the sector in the middle of the year is an example of non-partner relations, especially taking into account the fact that Ukrposhta has not paid to the newspapers for subscription. Kyrylenko backed the position of journalists," the association said.

As reported, Ukrposhta planned to increase tariffs for delivery of periodicals by 48% on average from July 1, 2017.
