Ukrzaliznytsia proposes to Ukrcement to take part in cement carrier distribution system
Public joint-stock company Ukrzaliznytsia has applied the automated wagon distribution system to the cement carriers and invites the Ukrcement association to jointly participate in the system, Ukrzaliznytsia board member Marek Zalesny has said.
"The automated distribution system has been applied to this group of wagons [cement carriers] to avoid corruption. I invite the association to jointly participate in the wagon distribution system, as we do not have own shipping firms," he said at a roundtable devoted to the influence of the tariff policy on industry and economy held in Kyiv on Tuesday.
Commenting on a remark of Ukrcement Association Chairman Miguel Machado that before the increase of cargo transportation tariffs Ukrzaliznytsia is to show success in fighting corruption, Zalesny said that corruption in wagon distribution would not disappear until there is enough number of wagons.
Machado also said that growth of Ukrzaliznytsia's tariffs annually exceeds the inflation pace.
"Each increase of the tariffs is more than inflation, and in 10 years its growth pace is 50% more than inflation, while servicing has worsened. Industrialists instead of investing in service and energy saving products are to replace Ukrzaliznytsia and buy wagons, expand warehouses. Today Ukrzaliznytsia is a serious obstacle for competitiveness," he said.
In turn, Zalesny paid attention that the Ukrzaliznytsia's tariffs did not exceed the pace of growth of industrial prices.
"Growth of industrial prices in 2016 was 31% with 8-10% of inflation, and in 2015 the 31% growth was recorded. We [Ukrzaliznytsia] increased the tariffs over the period by 30% and 15%," he said.
