Liquidation of Ukrainian Service 'Ukrainian television and radio broadcasting' starts

Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine Yuriy Stets has signed an order launching liquidation of Ukrainian Service 'Ukrainian television and radio broadcasting' (UTR).

The press service of the ministry reported on Thursday that the order was signed late December 2016 in pursuance to the law on Ukraine's international broadcasting multimedia system and to save budget funds.

"I would say that the liquidation process is long. The stocktaking is being conducted and the assets to be transferred or waived are being analyzed. The Information Policy Ministry will monitor that rights of employees are not violated during the liquidation process," Deputy Minister Artem Bidenko said.

According to the law on Ukraine's international broadcasting multimedia system, state-run enterprise Ukraine's international broadcasting platform is to be created on the basis of UTR. The law was signed by the Ukrainian president on December 28, 2015.

Ukraine's international broadcasting multimedia platform was launched on October 1, 2015. Instead of UTR satellite television channel, UA/TV channel was launched.
