MHP increases poultry sales by 2%, production by 4% in 2015
MHP agricultural holding in 2015 sold 537,290 tonnes of poultry, which is 2% more than in 2014.
According to a press release, in the fourth quarter of 2015 it sold 129,610 tonnes of poultry, which is 1% more than in the same period in 2014.
Due to the growth of production at MHP's Vinnytsia poultry farm, poultry output in the fourth quarter of 2015 increased by 3%, to 145,880 tonnes, and over the year by about 4%, to 566,600 tonnes.
Due to a significant devaluation of the national currency and the transfer of consumers from more expensive types of meat (pork and beef) to more affordable meat, the domestic demand for poultry has strengthened. The volume of MHP's domestic sales in the fourth quarter and for the year as a whole rose by about 9% and 5% respectively compared to the same periods in 2014.
Poultry exports in 2015 amounted to 132,080 tonnes, which is 6% less than in 2014, mainly due to falling exports to the CIS market (Uzbekistan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan) as a result of the devaluation of the local national currencies, as well as a suspension of deliveries to Kazakhstan for a few months during the year.
At the same time, exports to EU countries grew by 65% compared to the same period of the previous year. Exports amounted to 27,285 tonnes to 17 European countries. In particular, exports of chilled poultry to this market began.
