Ukraine retains gas pumping from underground facilities at 100 mcm a day due to low temperatures

Ukraine in the first days of 2016 retains the gas pumping pace from its underground storage facilities at over 100 million cubic meters (mcm) a day due to low temperatures, public joint-stock company Ukrtransgaz has reported.

On January 1, 2016, 117.3 million cubic meters of gas was pumped and on January 2 – 125.5 million cubic meters. Growth of pumping to over 100 million cubic meters was registered after December 30, 2015 when 98.4 million cubic meters was pumped and on December 31 – 118.1 million cubic meters.

As of January 2, 2016, gas stocks at Ukrainian underground storage facilities reached 13.753 billion cubic meters, which is 21.9% up on January 2, 2015 (11.283 billion cubic meters).

According to tentative data from European gas transport system operators, gas imports from Slovakia on January 2, 2015 was 18.76 million cubic meters, from Hungary – 1.39 million cubic meters, and from Poland – 1.24 million cubic meters. Gas import from Russia was suspended on November 26, 2015.
