World Bank experts propose that Kyiv optimizes 90 bus routes to develop transport network

Experts from the World Bank has proposed that 90 bus routes are optimized in Kyiv to develop the city's transport network.

The press service of the Kyiv City Administration reported that it is proposed that the shuttle bus service (the so-called marshrutka) is proposed to be replaced with full-fledged buses and trolleybuses.

"First of all the routes will be optimized in Troyeschyna, Kharkivsky Masyv, Vinohradar districts and in the main streets of the city," the press service said.

The transport infrastructure department of the Kyiv City Administration said that most of Kyiv residents use municipal transport, riding in the city, and the top priority of the city is improvement of municipal transport and optimization of its movement.

The reorganization of the municipal transport routes is important for Kyiv residents able to use municipal transport with comfort.

Today, the city has 72 bus routes, 45 trolleybus routes, 21 tram routes and 177 shuttle bus routes.

"The optimization of municipal transport routes will be gradual and after careful consideration. The city should prepare for optimization, buy additional buses, trolleybuses and trams or involve private carriers in cooperation," head of the transport infrastructure department Oleksandr Kozlovsky said.
