Some 660,000 tonnes of grain goes offshore from State Food-Grain Corporation in 2014

A total of 660,000 tonnes of grain was withdrawn offshore from public joint-stock company State Food-Grain Corporation under the previous governments, Ukrainian Economic Development and Trade Minister Aivaras Abromavicius wrote on his Twitter page on Tuesday.
"One more thing from the brilliant history of operation of the State Food-Grain Corporation under the previous cabinets: 660,000 tonnes of grain went offshore in 2014. There is no grain and no money!" the minister said.
As reported, referring to Deputy Board Chairman of the State Food-Grain Corporation Denys Polezhaev, in 2014 the company received $132 million of debts after sale of grain to four offshore companies.
In 2015, State Food-Grain Corporation introduced a ban on trade with offshore companies and toughened control over grain purchases. The company stopped using the agent purchase scheme and advance payments. The forward purchase procedure has been improved: the mandatory condition is supply of grain to the corporation's elevators.
According to the Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry of Ukraine, in 2015, the corporation had no new debt and no default under exports contracts.
