Ukraine's Ministry of Health has proposed improving quality controls for the import to Ukraine of active pharmaceutical ingredients and products in bulk.

The relevant draft government resolution, amending the procedure of state controls over the quality of drugs imported into Ukraine, has been posted on the authority's website for public discussion.

The proposed changes, in particular, foresee that conclusions for the same series of medicines imported by different business entities could be issued on the results of the laboratory analysis of samples taken from one of them.

According to the definition proposed by the Ministry of Health, "products in bulk" are any drug substances intended for the production of finished medicines, which have passed all stages of the technological process, except for package and/or final labeling, in any other country except for Ukraine.
