Ukrsotsbank's loss totals UAH 1.9 bln in Q1

The loss of Ukrsotsbank (UniCredit Bank, Kyiv) totaled UAH 1.9 billion in January-March 2015, while year-over-year its profit stood at UAH 23.229 million, the bank said in a press release.

"The loss from the revaluation of foreign currency came to UAH 1.2 billion, and another UAH 1.2 billion was reserved for overdue credits. Finally, the bank's loss in the first quarter of 2015 totaled UAH 1.9 billion," the press service said, citing Ukrsotsbank CFO Giacomo Volpi.

According to the report, the bank's assets in Q1 2015 grew by 14.5%, to UAH 55.3 billion.

Volpi said that thanks to support from the parent structure –UniCredit international banking group, the regulatory capital of the bank soared by 2.7 times, reaching UAH 9.4 billion as of April 1, 2015, and capital adequacy was 17.4% with the requirement of at least 10%.

Volpi also said that the charter capital of Ukrsotsbank will be increased by $250 milion in the coming months.

"UniCredit Bank has strong support of the parent structure, high liquidity level and the European approach to fulfillment of its liabilities. All these is reflected in trust to our bank – since early April hryvnia-pegged deposits of individuals grew by UAH 150 million," he said.

Ukrsotsbank was founded in 1990. UniCredit Bank Austria AG by October 2014 owned 36.9041% in Ukrsotsbank, PJSC Ferrotrade International – 35.5811%, UniCredit S.p.A. – 26.479%.

Ukrsotsbank ranked 6th among 158 operating banks as of January 1, 2015, in terms of total assets worth UAH 48.258 billion, according to the National Bank of Ukraine.
