Ukraine will honor its obligation to transit Russian natural gas to Europe, Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Yuriy Prodan said.

"Ukraine will by no means have anything to do with the gas being transited to Europe. Ukraine will strictly honor its gas transit obligations. There will be as much gas on entry (to Ukraine) for Europe, as on its exit on the western border," he told reporters on Saturday.

"Ukraine will strictly abide by the currently existing gas transit agreements. Ukraine has always strictly honored its obligation to transit gas to Europe. Ukraine is neither stealing, nor even thinking of possibly taking some of that gas away," the minister said.
