Crimean authorities block payment of pensions to Ukrainian citizens, Crimeans may get them in nearby regions - Denisova

Ukrainian Social Policy Minister Liudmyla Denisova has said that there is no technical possibility of paying pensions to Ukrainians in Crimea and recommended that they travel to Ukrainian regions to receive them.

"We currently don't have technical possibilities. There is one possibility for Crimeans and residents of Sevastopol to receive such a pension: by traveling to neighboring regions, for example, to Kherson, write a statement there requesting the payment of a pension in Kherson, and then get it there," she said at a press conference in Kyiv on Wednesday.

She said that one of her deputies had been to Crimea within the last two days, but failed to reach agreement with the local authorities.

Denisova also said that the financing of pensions for April throughout Ukraine had already begun. The first tranche of UAH 2.2 billion was financed on April 3. A total of UAH 21.4 billion will be required for the payment of pensions in April.
