Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Minister Eduard Stavytsky said that the issue of paying an $882 million debt for supplies of Russian gas in August will be settled by Ukraine on Monday, the Fifth TV Channel said on its Web site.

"I want to stress that the issue [of paying the debt] is actually resolved and on Monday you'll get to know everything," he told the Fifth TV Channel during the football tournament between ministers and lawmakers.

As reported, Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller said on October 29 that Ukraine had not paid the $882 million it owes for gas delivered in August 2013.

He said during an intercom meeting conducted by Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev that it was necessary "to consider the question of prepayment soon, advance payments, as is envisioned in the contract."

On November 1, 2013, Stavytsky said that there is confidence in reaching agreements with Gazprom on paying the debt of $882 million for gas supplies in August.
