Ukraine and Russia may hold a meeting of the inter-parliamentary committee on cooperation in high-tech industries in Dnipropetrovsk in the coming months.

"We have agreed with the leadership of the previous Verkhovna Rada to hold a meeting of the bilateral inter-parliamentary commission in Dnipropetrovsk in the coming months, similar to the one we had a few months ago in Voronezh. At the meeting of the commission, we would like to focus on the development of cooperation in high-tech industries, in particular cooperation in the space industry and the aviation industry," the chairman of the Russian State Duma Committee for CIS Affairs, Leonid Slutsky, said at a meeting with Prime Minister Mykola Azarov in Kyiv on Tuesday.

He expressed the hope that this initiative would be supported by members of the Verkhovna Rada of the 7th convocation.

In turn, Azarov welcomed the expansion of cooperation in high-tech industries and noted that Ukraine was ready for constructive cooperation with Russia.

"We have worked and will work to strengthen our relations with Russia. This is definitely our policy: the policy of the president and the prime minister, and the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada," the Cabinet's press service quoted the Ukrainian prime minister as saying.

In addition, Azarov offered Russia to consider the possibility of holding a meeting of the Ukrainian-Russian committee for trade and economic cooperation in the first quarter of 2013.
