Ukraine is resuming scheduled and unscheduled inspections in the field of electromagnetic compatibility, low-voltage electrical equipment, safety of machines and mechanisms, as well as unscheduled inspections in the provision of public utilities in terms of establishing state regulated prices and legislation on consumer protection and metrological supervision.

The Ministry of Economy reported the Cabinet of Ministers made this decision at a meeting on March 8.

“The adoption of such a decision is a requirement of our European partners. In particular, this is a necessary step within the framework of the recommendations of the European Commission on the preparation for the conclusion of the ACAA Agreement (Agreement on Conformity Assessment and Acceptance of Industrial Products) and the Ukraine Facility program,” Deputy Minister of Economy Oleksiy Sobolev is quoted in the release.

According to him, this will also help protect consumers from violations of the safety of non-food products and legislation in the market for the provision of housing and communal services, about which complaints were regularly received.

According to the government decision, scheduled and unscheduled inspections of non-food products are being resumed in three priority areas of the ACAA Agreement - electromagnetic compatibility, low-voltage electrical equipment, and safety of machines and mechanisms.

The department noted that during preliminary consultations, legal businesses supported strengthening supervision over the safety of non-food products, as this would prevent the work of illegal suppliers.

As reported, at the end of February 2024, the government, together with the Council for Entrepreneurship Support under the Conditions of Martial Law and the Business Ombudsman Council, launched the communication component of the Made in Ukraine platform, which will help measure the level of satisfaction of entrepreneurs with government institutions and services, as well as receive feedback regarding violations and abuse of authority by control and supervision authorities.
