SAPO head on judicial prospects of Kolomoisky case: We have very high chances

The head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO), Oleksandr Klymenko, believes that the prosecution has a high chance of completing the investigation into the suspicion of businessman Ihor Kolomoisky of embezzling UAH 9.2 billion of PrivatBank funds.

"With regard to the PrivatBank case and this episode, a certain part of the decisions that were made by the court of first instance and were supported by the appellate instance are currently being appealed," Klymenko said on Wednesday at a briefing in Kyiv.

At the same time, as the SAPO head emphasized, when the Supreme Court makes its final decisions, the anti-corruption authorities will be able to draw "conclusions on this case, whether it will have a future."

"In my opinion, we have a very high chance that this case will be sent to court," the SAPO head added.

Earlier it was reported that Kolomoisky is suspected of fraud and embezzlement of PrivatBank funds. The Security Service of Ukraine announced suspicion against him under two articles of the Criminal Code: Article 190 (fraud), Article 209 (legalization (laundering) of property obtained by criminal means). Law enforcement officers established that the businessman, during 2013-2020, legalized more than UAH 500 million by transferring it abroad. At the same time, he used the infrastructure of controlled banking institutions.
