Russia loses up to 365 tanks, 700 armored combat vehicles in Ukraine since early Oct, but generates 100 tanks per month, replaces battlefield losses – British intelligence

The Russian Ground Forces lost about 2,600 main battle tanks and 4,900 other armored combat vehicles in Ukraine from February 25, 2002 to January 24, 2024, British intelligence said.

"Russian ground forces probably lost around 40% fewer vehicles in 2023 than in 2022. It is highly likely that the reduction in armoured vehicle attrition rates was due to the increasingly positional nature of the conflict in 2023, and because Russia spent a significant proportion of the year in a defensive posture," the Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland said in a report published Monday on X social media.

It is noted that since the beginning of October 2023, when the Russian ground forces went on the offensive in eastern Ukraine, the losses of Russian armored vehicles have increased and the occupiers have lost up to 365 main battle tanks and 700 armored combat vehicles, while making very little progress at the front.

"However, Russia can probably generate at least 100 MBTs [main battle tanks] a month and therefore retains the capacity to replace battlefield losses and continue this level of offensive activity for the foreseeable future," British intelligence said.
