American long-range ATACMS missiles were secretly deployed to Ukraine and used to strike two airfields in Russian-occupied Luhansk and Berdiansk, The Wall Street Journal and Politico said.

The Ukrainian military on Tuesday used U.S.-supplied longer-range missiles to strike nine Russian helicopters in eastern Ukraine, after Washington secretly shipped the weapons in recent weeks, according to media statements.

As WSJ points out, the ATACMS modification that Ukraine received has a range of up to about 160 kilometers.

As reported, the Special Operations Forces on the night of October 17 carried out a successful operation to defeat Russian airfields in Berdiansk and Luhansk, the forces said.

As reported in the Special Operations Forces' Telegram channel on Tuesday, as a result, nine helicopters of various modifications, special equipment located at the airfields, an air defense launcher, an ammunition depot have been destroyed, and the runways have been damaged.
