Diia adds service for reimbursement of deposits in bankrupt banks

The service for reimbursement of deposits in banks in the event of their withdrawal from the market has become available in the mobile application of government services Diia, Svitlana Rekrut, Managing Director of the Deposit Guarantee Fund (DGF), has said.

"The most important thing is that we all remember that now in Ukraine there is a 100% guarantee of deposits... Depositors will have the opportunity to return all funds back remotely, continuously, clearly and conveniently," she said at the presentation of the service in Kyiv on Tuesday.

Rekrut clarified that the service was developed by the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the Deposit Guarantee Fund.

"Today we present the services of refunding funds to depositors of bankrupt banks: 1.4 million accounts, 3.2 billion funds are available for payments, and this is a service for depositors of 34 bankrupt banks," Deputy Prime Minister for Innovation, Development of Education, Science and Technology - Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov added.

According to Rekrut, now depositors have three options to return funds: come to the nearest branch of the agent bank with a passport and identification code, receive the deposit remotely using a phone call with identification and in the Diia phone application in a few clicks.

The head of the Deposit Guarantee Fund clarified that among the participants in the deposit reimbursement program in Diia are: PrivatBank, Ukrgasbank, Universal Bank, FUIB and Idea Bank, but the list may expand.

Fedorov indicated that in order to reimburse a deposit through the Diia portal, you need to register in the application, find the deposit reimbursement service, mark in the list the bank in which the funds were (if there were several of them, you first need to mark one), submit an application and within three days the funds will be credited to the eSupport card. If the depositor does not have such a card, it can be quickly issued through banks participating in the program.

Rekrut emphasized that at the moment there are no restrictions on the amount of reimbursement of deposits, and funds from the eSupport card can be spent without any restrictions.
