Kamyshin: We are significantly increasing our production capabilities every month, there is multiple increase even this year
Minister for Strategic Industries Oleksandr Kamyshin said that Ukraine is significantly increasing its production capabilities every month, but “a lot of time” is still needed to reach those levels when we will be self-sufficient.
“Our crazy neighbor Russia has been building its defense complex for 10 years. For more than 20 years, they have been building it without stopping. We are significantly increasing our production capabilities every month. We have a multiple growth even for this year. But we still need a lot of time for that “to reach those levels when we will be self-sufficient, when we will be able to provide our armed forces with weapons and military equipment produced in Ukraine,” Kamyshin said during a conversation with journalists on the sidelines of the Defense Industries Forum.
According to the minister, in the second year of the full-scale war, Ukrainian forces feel an urgent need for all types of weapons and military equipment.
“Therefore, from artillery ammunition to drones, everything needs to be produced in large volumes, we are working on this,” he said.
The minister emphasized that more than 20 agreements of various levels were signed at the Defense Industries Forum, which was held in Kyiv.
“And this is the main opportunity for companies, Ukrainian companies, to get acquainted with foreign ones, to form joint projects, joint productions. For foreign companies - to understand that we have decent production in the country, capable of producing weapons and military equipment of worthy European-NATO level quality together with them," Kamyshin explained.
In particular, he announced the arrival at the forum of large delegations from the United States of America, as well as from several large European countries.
“In total, more than 30 countries are represented, and this is a good indicator that there is a balanced structure of visitors. There are even visitors from Australia, and this company is looking for an opportunity to organize the production of unmanned systems here, and for this they came from Australia,” he said.
