European Commission approves recommendations for recognition of professional qualifications of Ukrainian refugees

The European Commission has approved recommendations to Member States for the recognition of Ukrainian refugees under an urgent procedure of professional qualifications in order to provide appropriate work.

The corresponding announcement on Wednesday in Brussels was made by the representative of the European Commission Sonya Gospodinova.

"The Commission approved recommendations to help Member States with guidance and practical advice to ensure rapid, flexible and fair recognition of the professional qualifications of Ukrainian refugees in the EU in order to ensure the well-being of refugees and their integration in the host countries that they have, amongst other rights, access to jobs they are qualified for," she announced.

In particular, among other things, the Commission proposes an expedited procedure for wide dissemination of information and transparency between Member States. “To facilitate dealing with the language barrier, the eTranslation tool developed by the Commission has been adapted to meet the demand for quick and reliable translation from Ukrainian. Translation from Russian is also possible and can be useful, given that many professionals in Ukraine obtained their diplomas in Russian," Gospodinova said.
