Moscow not against UN Security Council permanent members, Turkey and Germany becoming guarantors of Ukraine's security - Turkish FM

Moscow has no objections to the permanent members of the UN Security Council, Turkey and Germany becoming guarantors of Ukraine's security, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said.

"As Mr. Kuleba noted regarding the collective security treaty, Ukraine has already put forward its own initiative, these are the five countries of permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Turkey and Germany. Yesterday, during the contacts that we had in Moscow, I saw that the Russian side has no objection to this, and they could accept such a proposal," Cavusoglu said at a press conference following talks with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba on Thursday in Ukraine.

Kuleba noted that Ukraine's security guarantees are a key issue around which Ukraine is currently negotiating.

He stressed that negotiating security guarantees only with Russia is stupid, because a multilateral format is needed.

In addition, Kuleba confirmed that the information published in the Financial Times is Russia's position.

"Therefore, it is very important now not to interpret it in such a way that this is what Ukraine agreed to," the Ukrainian Foreign Minister stressed.
