Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said he had talks with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba on Monday and conveyed his message to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on the need to resolve the situation through a political settlement.

"I had a very lengthy conversation with the Ukrainian foreign minister last night, and the Ukrainian foreign minister asked me to convey a message to Mr. Lavrov that Ukraine is in favor of putting an end to the war and concentrating on a political settlement," Amir-Abdollahian said at a press conference following negotiations with Lavrov in Moscow on Tuesday.

Iran is opposed to war and to unilateral sanctions, he said.

Amir-Abdollahian said Kuleba asked him to tell Lavrov that "the Ukrainian side is willing to continue negotiations for a political settlement and that Ukraine is in favor of ending the war."

Lavrov said his Iranian counterpart informed him about his call with Kuleba and "passed on Kuleba's wish that the war should be stopped as soon as possible."
