State Border Guard Service: there is hope that Ukrainian defenders of Snake Island may be alive

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine states that all Ukrainian defenders of Snake Island (Odesa region), which was captured by the aggressor, may be alive.

"Russian media reported on the delivery of Ukrainian military personnel who were on the island to Sevastopol, temporarily occupied by Russia. Preliminary information that there may be dead among the border guards was received before communication was lost with the defenders," State Border Guard Service said in a post on Facebook.

At present, after receiving information about the probable whereabouts of the defenders, the State Border Guard Service, together with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, is working to identify our soldiers.

"We sincerely hope that the guys will return home as soon as possible, and the information received at the time of the attack about the death will not be confirmed. Glory to the Ukrainian defenders!" the State Border Guard Service said in the message.

As reported, on February 24, the aggressor fired from shipborne weapons and used combat aircraft at border guards and soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Snake Island.

Border guards and fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine courageously held the line.

Adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Anton Gerashchenko announced the death of 13 Ukrainian border guards in the battles on Snake Island (Odesa region).
